Rooted in Strength: From Hiding My Culture to Building SakoonMatch

There was a time when I would’ve done anything to blend in.Growing up in Australia, I faced moments that made me feel like my background was something to be ashamed of. I’d downplay where I came from, avoid wearing cultural clothes, and distance myself from the things that made me… me.

It wasn’t just about fitting in — it was about surviving.

But as I got older, something shifted.Maybe it was growth.Maybe it was pain turning into pride.Or maybe it was finally understanding what my mother always said:"A tree is only as strong as its roots."

Today, I stand tall in a salwar kameez matching the exact colours of my brand, SakoonMatch — not because it’s “trendy,” but because it’s me.Every stitch reminds me of where I come from.Every thread carries the weight of stories, sacrifices, and strength passed down through generations.

SakoonMatch was born from that very realization — that peace (sakoon) comes when you stop hiding who you are and start standing in it fully. We’re not here to imitate dating apps with halal filters. We’re here to build a space where your identity is not only accepted, but honoured.

So if you’ve ever felt like your roots made you different — or worse, like they made you less — I want you to know something:Your roots are your power. And when you embrace them, you stop surviving and start thriving.

This is personal.

This is legacy.

This is SakoonMatch.
